ABOUT THE SON
My name is Jacob Jansen, but my friends call me Jake! I have a history of starting business and love being an entrepreneur. I’ve always have loved the outdoors, backpacking, and I have had BB guns since I was little, I shooting cans and targets in the yard. (that’s me in the Patriotic shirt on the left).
In 2020 the world changed and I sold a business I grew apart from, to focus on building something I really enjoy doing and would bring families and friends together. My father and I started Patriots Airguns in 2021 realizing there was an emerging airgun market and it aligned with our interests, experiences, and skill sets. I enjoy what I do again, and we have the best customers. This is a business I am excited to get my family involved with and maybe if I’m lucky enough, pass it down to my kids. ABOUT THE FATHER
My name is Patrick Jansen. I am an engineer with Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and a Masters degree in Business Administration. My career has consisted of both individual contributor and management positions primarily focused in the electrical industry. Soon after retirement we started researching PCP airguns. My father was a police officer and I had frequent opportunities to use firearms under his tutelage. I had used BB guns growing up and quite frankly was under the mis-perception that many people have thinking PCPs are just a new type of “BB gun”. After considerable research we realized that PCP air guns are powerful, accurate, and have ‘no kick’ compared to firearms and are considerably quieter.
Patriots Airguns was established to focus on high quality big bore PCP airguns from manufacturers that provide strong support for registered dealers. Jake, with his communication skills and passion for sales and experience with starting businesses was perfect for marketing and sales. My management experience, business startup success, and passion for technology positioned me to develop the company website, manage inventory, and provide strong service for our customers.
The technology developed for high power airguns is fantastic and rapidly improving. Many people have told me that I should start acting like a retiree and stop working so hard. The reality is that starting a company to do something that I enjoy, with a schedule that I control (so I can spend time with my wife) while working with my son is a very enjoyable retirement.
